The Evolution of Evolve
Evolve: The Beginning
Evolve was many years in the making, I just hadn't realized it yet. When I first started
my birth work journey, I was inspired by the support women gave to one another. Not
just the support that Doulas gave to their beloved clients but also the support that
women tend to give to one another during their journey of learning and growing.
I found myself continually inspired and motivated by the passion that others possessed
for the same work I had been called to do. When women get together and share their
experiences, passion, ideas and hopes, amazing things can happen.
Because of this, I began thinking about a way to offer support to birthing families as well
as to offer support to other women in this profession. I envisioned a group of people
who all worked together to support growing families while supporting one another in
their business goals. I knew that timing would be important because I wanted to be sure
to find other people who would embrace this same vision, want to be a part of this
evolution and do so at the same time.
Evolve: The Passion
The word Evolve means a lot to me. It represents the journey we go through as birth
workers to continually learn and grow but Evolve also represents being present during
the special time our clients evolve into parents. Times when a person can recall precise
memories are often associated with their children’s pregnancies and births. To be a part
of those memories and to witness a person become a parent either for the first time, or
again for the eighth time, is truly something amazing to be a part of. When a family
experiences the excitement of feeling a first kick, sees their baby for the very first time
while also seeing the look on a mother’s face when she's in shock and empowered
because "she did it!" these are the moments of evolution that are so profound and
exciting to witness.
There are other members of Evolve who have a passion for helping pregnant families
and while their work differs from that of a doula, their passion is the same. We all work
together with the mind of assisting families so that they can have a wonderful pregnancy
and birth experience. The honor we feel knowing that we've guided a family into those
evolutionary moments with calm confidence and empowerment is pretty amazing.
Evolve: The Evolution
Supporting growing families is a never ending job. The road to learning, growing and
evolving in our role as companions, teachers and avenues of support always continue.
From educating a family about the importance of prenatal nutrition, fitness, emotional
and mental balance all the way to the physical and emotional support during and after
birth, the work continues.
A few of the amazing things we hope to accomplish at Evolve, are offering the
unconditional, unbiased, knowledgeable and passionate care and education needed during the time of pregnancy and immediately thereafter. The services we offer now and
in the future will not simply focus on the countdown of the birth of a baby. Rather, the focus will be on the experience as a whole; from nurturing the body and it’s emotional, physical and nutritional needs to breastfeeding education and support during the postpartum period. No matter what a family faces during pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period, Evolve will have the services to assist in their evolution.
Evolve: Always
Our individual passion to help birthing families in our area has evolved in to a unique
collective of people sharing the same vision and passion. We know knowledge is power
and when people have the knowledge to make the choices right for their family and the
avenues to experience them, that is true empowerment and evolution at its finest.
